Monika A.'s Story

Monika made the decision to get breast implants as a way to feel a little better during a particularly rough time in her life. However, after nearly a decade with her implants and many years of breast implant illness symptoms, she realizes they had to go.
Tell us about your explant journey.
Long story short: I had implants for nearly a decade, got them when I was going through a rough time in my life where I felt getting implants would make me feel better. I immediately gained weight and over the years struggled with hormonal imbalance, digestive issues, candida issues and hair loss. Doctors tried to prescribe medication for hypothyroidism, but I didn't believe that it was my thyroid giving me problems. My friend had her explant last year and seeing her transformation from one day to another helped me understand that I too would experience an immense shift if I removed mine. I had a drink a few weeks later then experienced very bad breast pain for 3 consecutive days. I scheduled explant surgery within a week feeling my implants were toxic to my body.
After the surgery I immediately had different hair, my eyebrow hair started to grow back, my energy was different and my heart felt more open and clear. I've been detoxing since through fasting and I plan on creating a BII guide to detoxing (I'm an RD, health coach and work with plant medicines). I'm so incredibly grateful to have had this explant surgery, it literally was life-changing and it helped me love myself MORE for exactly who I am (which was the underlying lesson from the entire experience).
