Christin N.'s Story

“I’m getting stronger every single day. Walking a lot, cycling, dancing with my kids! I am so much more confident now, which is 100% ironic considering I got implants to boost my confidence! I feel so strong as a woman and sharing my story with others is incredibly empowering!”
Although she admits that they looked nice on her body, Christin never felt connected to her implants and notes that they got in the way most of the time. Suffering from symptoms that ranged from chest pain to depression, she was overcome with excitement upon making the decision to explant.
Tell us about your explant journey.
I began looking into it a few years ago, and entertaining the idea. I wasn’t as outwardly sick as many of the women I have read about, so I continued to wait and live with them. I knew in my heart that they needed to come out, and once I made the decision to schedule surgery I never looked back nor second-guessed myself! I was EXCITED, like really excited to get it done and over with! God is great, and I was able to have my surgery sooner because of a last-minute cancellation. It was not ideal, my husband was traveling and out of town for the week, so my mother-in-law and two young daughters drove me to the East Coast of Florida and we tackled the 48 hours together! We did awesome! The drains were nothing but annoying, and the worst part of everything for me was getting the original tape and dressings off! Each time I had to take the tape off was rough, but if that was the worst of it, then I considered myself blessed! I must say, as an avid fitness girl and exercise lover, I enjoyed the fact that I had no pressure on me to work out at all for a few weeks, my brain and body needed it. It was as if my entire being, mind, body and soul, got a break for a few weeks and was able to reset, and together, we’ve never been stronger!

How did breast implants impact your life?
They never impacted me positively. My husband fell in love with them, but I never did! I never embraced them and enjoyed them! They did nothing but get in the way. They were perfect for my body and looked great, but unnecessary for me! I couldn’t give anyone a tight hug because they would hurt, and my girls could never lie on my chest because they would hurt! I am so happy that they are gone and I am back to my natural, God-given self!
What was surgery like for you?
Surgery was easy! I felt very relaxed and calm going into the surgical center and going into the operating room. I woke up from a very deep sleep and it was all over! I went back to the hotel and had soup and crackers right away, and allowed the healing to begin! I was so thrilled that I was on the lighter side, nothing could stop me!
